  • Speaker: Yannick Pellet Vice President of the Advanced Software Platform Lab at Samsung Research America

    Bio: Yannick Pellet is the Vice President of the Advanced Software Platform Lab at Samsung Research America (Silicon Valley), where he is heading a research group focusing on revolutionizing SW platforms. Prior to Samsung, Yannick worked for Hewlett-Packard where he headed the software development function and developer relations for webOS and the Open webOS project. Earlier, he was member of the original group of engineers that designed and implemented Maemo one of the first Linux-based open source based mobile platform. He also participated in the creation of MeeGo, and was a member of the Nokia MeeGo leadership team. He delivered over half a dozen mobile products among which the critically acclaimed Linux based N9 and N900.

    Speaker: Girish Dhanakshirur

    Abstract: Mobile technologies are revolutionizing our personal lives and transforming the way we do business. This presentation addresses both the technology and business transformations taking place, and outlines the challenges faced during mobile application development as well as runtime. You will learn: mobile technical and business challenges, platforms, tools, advanced capabilities, and future directions in Mobile Technologies, particularly around context, biometric and location services.

    Bio: Girish Dhanakshirur(@girishdshirur) is a Senior Technical Staff Member(STSM) and an Master Inventor in IBM Software Labs. He's been with IBM since 1997 holding leadership roles in various WebSphere middleware stack product development, including WebSphere enterprise middleware, security appliance, advanced telephony. Currently, as a Senior Architect for IBM's flagship MobileFirst platform he leads IBM Mobile Platform development and works closely with CIOs across the world. During his twenty years of software development career, Girish has built a large portfolio of Intellectual Property for IBM, including sixteen issued patents. He has presented at various technical forums across the world and has contributed to number of external publications, blogs, technology magazines.

    Girish holds a Masters in Computer Science, and an MBA with specialisation in IT, both from Florida Atlantic University, Boca Raton, US.
