Here you can find events that are related to SAPIR research areas.
- NAVS Spring 2007 Concertation, Rocquencourt, Versailles, 13-14 March 2007
- FP7 in Motion: Cognitive Systems, Interaction, Robotics, Digital Libraries and Content, Information days, 24-25 January 2007, Jean Monnet building, Luxembourg
Fausto presented Sapir at the session on Intelligent Content and Semantics, Workshop 'Multimedia Indexing and Retrieval'
- 29th European Conference on Information Retrieval (ECIR 2007) was held in Rome, Italy, 2-5 April 2007, organised by the Fondazione Ugo Bordoni, in cooperation with BCS-IRSG and ACM SIGIR.
ECIR is the main European forum for the presentation of new research results in the field of information retrieval.
Fabrizio Silvestri (ISTI - CNR) received the Best Paper Award for his paper entitled: 'Sorting Out the Document Identifier Assignment Problem'.
Motivation for the award by the ECIR 2007 Best Paper Award Committee: 'The paper presents a simple and effective alternative to the document identifier assignment problem. In fact, the solution is so simple that it has been easily overlooked by researchers in the field. The explanation of the proposed technique is clear and the experimental evaluation follows a sound methodology and uses a collection of very acceptable size. This is one of those few papers that presents a solution that could have useful practical applications.'
- SIGIR Workshop on Large Scale Distributed Systems for Information Retrieval. The workshop will be held in Amsterdam, the Netherlands - July 27, 2006 in the SIGIR 2007 workshop
- SIGIR Workshop on New Challenges in Audio-Visual Search. The workshop will be held in Amsterdam, the Netherlands - July 27, 2006 in the SIGIR 2007 workshop
- RNDM 2007: Intl. Workshop on Retrieval aNd Delivery of Multimedia content. The RNDM workshop will be held in conjunction with the Infoscale conference.
The workshop is inspired to the SAPIR project, spreading over several topics:
- multi-feature search
- benchmarks
- digital rights management issuess
The workshop will be a good chance to show SAPIR to the scientific community (consider that the Infoscale conference is about scalability).
- ACM International Conference on Image and Video Retrieval, July 9-11 2007, University of Amsterdam, Amsterdam, The Netherlands.
- One day Workshop on Research Challenges in Multimedia Analysis and Retrieval.
This one day workshop, co-located with the SSMS 2007, will review the current state-of-the-art in the field and brain storm future directions. The objectives are to discuss issues surrounding the analysis and retrieval of multimedia data and new applications.
